Scene Radio is Scotland’s only Scottish based LGBTI+ Radio Station serving the Scottish LGBTI+ Community. Scene Radio is run by people identifying as LGBTI+ for the benefit of Scottish LGBT Community.
If you are looking for an amazing opportunity to volunteer, not only in a radio station but a radio station for the LGBTI+ community, Scene Radio is the Scene for you!
We are looking for a number of people to fill numerous roles, from show presenters to fundraisers.
Please note, you DO NOT have to identify as LGBTI+ to be involved but YOU MUST be fully supportive of those who do and the LGBTI+ Community as a whole.
The Volunteer Process
If you are interested in working with us you can get in touch with our volunteers liaison, Jordan (Details below).
What Happens Next?
This will depend on what you wish to volunteer as. If the role you choose to take on is not a presenting role, Jordan will talk you through the various options and commitments the role requires.
On Air Presenters
If you wish to present a show on Scene Radio, it is a little more involved. In the first instance, you will be required to complete the volunteer agreement and your Show Pitch. The show pitch is your chance to explain the show you wish to create and impress us on paper with your idea.
Secondly a face to face meeting with Jordan and our Station Manager Paul. Depending on the outcome of the meeting, you may be invited to the studio for a technical assessment of both your skill in running the desk and your sound as a presenter.
I Cannot get to Glasgow
If you are not within easy travelling distance of Glasgow, you will be required to submit a show reel highlighting your talents. Your show reel should be a maximum of 10 minutes in length focusing on you as a presenter (We are not listening to your music, we want to hear YOU). Remember, apart from your show pitch, your show reel may be all we have to judge your suitability on.
If at the end of the process everyone still wishes to move forward, then you will be invited come on board as a volunteer presenter.
I have never done radio before.
If you wish to be a presenter, but have never had any training or experience, do not despair. Scene Radio would still like to hear from you. For the right candidates we can offer training and tuition to get you to a level where you are competent enough to get on air and take your first steps.
The First Step
Whether you wish to present or take a less prominent but equally important role, the first step is to get in touch with Jordan at firstname.lastname@example.org. Jordan will send you the information that you will need including that all important show pitch form for your very own show!
So what are you waiting for, get in touch now. Scene Radio looks forward to hearing from you.
