Scene Radio is pleased to announce that Pink Saltire has joined the board of Directors.
Both organisations have a desire to see improvements in opportunity and acceptance for those who identify as LGBTIQ+.
Working in partnership with Pink Saltire opens up opportunities to all members of the Scottish LGBT Community to become involved in media that has the potential to directly benefit the community as a whole.
Pink Saltire will develop services to improve representation of LGBT+ people in the media through technical training and a number of volunteering opportunities. Scene Radio is a Community Interest Company which is owned and managed by LGBT people.
Launched in 2016, Scene Radio has grown considerably as an internet-based radio station serving the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community of Scotland, and has covered live events including Pride events in West Lothian and Fife.
The new agreement will see Pink Saltire provide capacity building support and financial leadership as the station seeks to expand its services, attracting new volunteers from around the country and developing a special media training service for LGBT people.
Speaking today about the new agreement, Pink Saltire founder, Stuart Duffy, said:
“We’re very pleased to formally recognise our ongoing support for Scene Radio in this agreement. They have worked hard to bring fun and entertainment through internet radio and develop a growing audience at home and abroad. We are focused as a charity on making sure the LGBT+ community have more opportunities to express themselves in the media and radio is an excellent medium to do this. We hope lots of people will come forward in the coming months to work with us on new shows, on themed packages and on a series of live events. We’ll be announcing details of training opportunities in different areas of Scotland very soon and would encourage LGBT+ people young or old(er) to get involved!”
