There are no end of bands out there all trying to make their mark on the music industry, numerous bands come and then go never to be heard of again. Then there are those individuals that flit from band to band looking for the band that fits their image, style or some other notion that may be in their head.
Then there is Nick Shane. Now Nick is the kind of guy that plugs away relentlessly to get his music out there, and yes, I have come across a couple of incarnations of Nick, but the one thing they all have in common is Nick's unmistakable talent and consistent quality, sound, and high production values on every track I have heard from him.
Yesterday, via Facebook messenger I received a mail from Nick and a new track, "Tear It Up". Within the message Nick tells me his new band, The 1:21s are a band that he describes as "proper Mod through and through" and have over 50 years live/recorded music between them, and it shows!
Tear it up is a true guitar led track with excellent melodies and a feel that will have you thinking back to a certain bank holiday weekend on Brighton Beach. All I am missing is my Parka and a scooter with mirrors bolted to every bar. If Roger Daltry doesn't look this track out, then definitely ask "who"?
We have had the Who, The Jam and the Beatles, now we have the 1:21s and the world is a better place.
Check them out on Facebook, watch the video below, and with me, look forward to the release of the album Soul TV.
